Christina Bruce

Christina Bruce is a Senior Associate at DPRA. She graduated from the University of Guelph where her research emphasis was based in natural resource management, environmental economics, and rural planning issues. She has obtained a post-graduate certificate as a Geographic Information Systems Application Specialist from Sir Sandford Fleming College and undertook post graduate studies at University of Toronto in environmental resource management.

She is a professional planner and a member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and Canadian Institute of Planners. Since joining the firm in 1999, the focus of Christina’s work at DPRA has involved designing and managing strategic planning assignments with specific emphasis on: public consultation programs, project coordination activities, interview processes, strategic communications, facilitation and stakeholder relation activities.

Her experience is centred on strategic and sustainable community planning. She has created and implemented many consultation plans to actively engage stakeholders in small municipal projects to large-scale national assignments. She has organized and facilitated workshops, meetings, open houses and public forums. She has put this experience to work on the development of creative sustainable community strategies for St. Thomas, Northeastern Manitoulin and the Island, Marmora and Lake, Town of South Bruce Peninsula, Collingwood, Windsor, Aurora, Oakville, and Vaughan.

Christina has worked closely with a number of First Nations and aboriginal organizations across Canada, on social, economic, political and environmental issues. Her involvement has focused on developing public engagement programs, facilitating discussions, conducting community visits and interviews (in-person and telephone) with representatives of aboriginal communities, organizations and members of various First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities. She has organized a variety of community consultations and outreach programs. She has considerable experience in Aboriginal engagement activities and visiting Aboriginal communities in urban and remote locations. She has participated in many projects across Canada that involved interaction with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis related to community economic development, program evaluation, natural resources and health and social services.
