Dr. Peter Homenuck, RPP

Dr. Peter Homenuck is a registered professional planner and Consulting Associate at DPRA Canada. Peter is Professor Emeritus in the Environmental Studies Program at York University, where he taught graduate-level courses in planning, public participation, intervention strategies, social impact assessment and Native/Canadian relations.

Dr. Homenuck has over 35 years experience in environmental planning, public consultation, facilitation, organizational redesign, strategic planning and policy and program development. His work has focussed on comprehensive social planning, program evaluation, consultation, organizational design and analysis, social impact assessment, training, and the incorporation of public perceptions and concern into complex and controversial technical studies and projects.

Dr. Homenuck has extensive experience as a peer reviewer and has been involved as an expert witness in more than 30 regulatory hearings.

Dr. Homenuck has designed and implemented over 100 communications programs for projects and programs involving waste management, energy, land use, resource development, recreation, social policy, and transportation. He has written community consultation guidelines for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Environment Canada, and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Dr. Homenuck has been involved in a number of strategic planning activities for private sector organizations as well as municipal governments and federal government organizations. He also has extensive experience in facilitation and mediation, and has used these skills in a variety of settings, including facilitation of workshops and group processes of many kinds, the mediation of disputes, and the training of facilitators for public and private sector organizations.

His clients include federal, provincial and municipal agencies; Aboriginal organizations and First Nations; community groups; and private firms.
