Shena Shaw

Shena Shaw is a Senior Associate at DPRA and currently manages the DPRA office in Whitehorse. She has been working in the field of project management, facilitation, research and writing for a wide variety of projects and across many disciplines since 2001. During this time Shena has worked for Industry, Not-for-Profit Organizations and Government agencies. Shena has a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology focusing on First Nations Studies from the University of Victoria.

At DPRA, Shena is mainly active in projects belonging to the areas of Environmental Assessment, Public and Aboriginal Consultation, Socio-Economic Assessment, and Environment and Community Studies. Clients include: Yukon Government, several First Nations, MVEIRB, MVLWB, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, the Northern Gas Project Secretariat, Parks Canada, Environment Canada, various departments of the Government of the Northwest Territories, Municipal Governments, Victoria Gold, De Beers Canada, and the City of Yellowknife.

Ms. Shaw understands the complex legal and cultural issues that arise in the North, both through her academic and work experience. Shena has been involved in aboriginal issues regarding treaty and title rights, cultural impacts from resource development, community development and sustainability, and traditional knowledge.

Shena was raised in Whitehorse, and is a life-long northerner. Within her past and present academic and work experience, she has been exposed to the cultural, economic, and environmental aspects of northern Canada.
