JOB SUMMARY

 

DPRA is seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional with a reputation of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at the senior management level for our growing Yellowknife consulting team.  The team effectively responds to client needs on strategy, operations, structure and people in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.  Specifically, our Yellowknife consultants work with Indigenous, Territorial and Federal governments, and private sector businesses, to maximize the effectiveness and success of their organizations and people by developing and implementing effective strategies, programs and solutions to achieve better results.

 

Performance Expectations

 

The Senior Associate will:

  • Network and take a leadership role in local professional business communities across Northwest Territories, while raising awareness of DPRA and seeking new business development opportunities
  • Strategically help to build the Yellowknife office through business development activities
  • Establish and maintain positive client interactions, prior to commencement of client work, and throughout to project completion
  • Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value
  • Effectively plan, budget, schedule and coordinate tasks and engagements
  • Deliver industry and technical expertise implementing best practices
  • Deliver dynamic presentations, consultation and engagement services
  • Develop high quality deliverables that meet the needs of clients
  • Assist in the development and training of team members
  • Travel, as needed, throughout the Northwest Territories and between DPRA offices, working alongside clients and colleagues

 

Qualifications

 

The following qualifications are essential:

  • Graduate Degree relevant to at least one of DPRA’s practice areas
  • Minimum ten (10) years of related and progressive experience in one or more practice areas
  • Relevant experience within the public/private sector
  • Experience working in a northern and Indigenous contexts
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Proven record of independent work and ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and develop business

Senior Associate, Socio-Economic Research and Assessment Lead, Toronto Office

JOB SUMMARY

 

DPRA has a senior-level opportunity for an entrepreneurial and progressive leader to help grow and drive the success of our socio-economic research and assessment practice area.  Reporting to the President/CEO, the Senior Associate advises and partners with clients to fulfill their business needs by leveraging the socio-economic research and assessment team’s offering and capabilities. The Senior Associate will work closely with their team members to manage business development and will lead, manage and participate in socio-economic research and assessment projects.   The Senior Associate will maximize team performance through mentorship and coaching.

 

Performance Expectations

 

The Senior Associate will:

  • Assist with leading the socio-economic research and assessment practice area
  • Strategically build the practice area through successful business development including preparation of proposals and presentations
  • Achieve or exceed personal business development targets
  • Organize and participate in engagement/consultations with key stakeholders including project proponents, government agencies, Indigenous leadership/community members, and the general public
  • Plan, manage and complete socio-economic impact assessments with a focus on:
    • Undertaking socio-economic baseline studies, community profiling
    • Impact/effect prediction
    • Developing impact management programs, including mitigation, monitoring, benefit enhancement, follow-up/adaptive management and reporting
    • Advancing Indigenous negotiations, including Impact and Benefit Agreements
  • Participate in other types of qualitative and quantitative socio-economic research, including social trends analysis
  • Ability to provide staff direction and professional development while balancing the demands of multiple client assignments
  • Travel to work alongside clients at project locations across Ontario/elsewhere in Canada

 

 

Qualifications

 

The following qualifications are essential:

  • Master’s Degree in social or environmental sciences, environmental planning, resource management or other related discipline
  • Minimum ten (10) years of more progressively senior experience, preferably in consulting
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience planning, managing and completing socio-economic impact assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and develop business
  • Proven strong project management experience
  • Experience working with proponents, government/regulators, communities and/or Indigenous organizations

Senior Associate, Public Sector Consulting Team, Toronto Office

JOB SUMMARY

 

Currently, DPRA is seeking an Associate for our growing Public Policy consulting team.  This position requires an individual who can effectively respond to client needs on regulatory enforcement and compliance, legislative and policy support, performance management and metrics, strategic planning and development and program development in the public sector.

 

Performance Expectations

 

The Senior Associate will:

  • Review and help develop effective regulatory enforcement strategies
  • Analyze and clarify compliance burdens and responsibilities
  • Provide legislative support by undertaking community consultations on proposed legislation
  • Conduct policy research and provide strategic advice with respect to evolving policy proposals
  • Review and assess governance arrangements and programs including assisting with organizational setup, internal planning and control systems and determination of required corrective action
  • Support clients in developing performance metrics, processes and accountability tools and systems
  • Provide in-depth analysis and expert facilitation to clients by taking long-and short-term policy objectives and translating them into operational goals
  • Assist public sector clients with the development of new programs and services and/or operational protocol and processes

 

Qualifications

 

Successful candidates will have a combination of:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • Ten (10) plus years of experience in the senior public-sector; minimum of 5 years of experience in a public-sector role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of performance management theories, principles, models and related systems/technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and design
  • Demonstrated experience in managing regulatory enforcement programs
  • Considerable experience managing concurrent projects utilizing organizational, planning and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with team members and external consultants
  • Key to working in a consulting practice is being flexible and able to work on a variety of projects and across a variety of disciplines. Candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or an interest in working and learning about other practice areas will do well at DPRA
