JOB SUMMARY
Currently, DPRA is seeking a Senior Associate for our Public Sector consulting team. This position requires an individual who can effectively respond to client needs covering a range of areas including: research: stakeholder engagement and communications: strategic action and implementation planning: development of guiding materials (e.g., manuals, handbooks and guidelines); and preparation of authoritative documents (e.g., policies, directives and procedures) and approval instruments (e.g., Cabinet submissions).

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The Senior Associate will:

• Lead DPRA projects and work with and/or manage other DPRA staff

• Support public sector business development

• Perform quantitative and qualitative research and analysis

• Develop data collection plans and instruments

• Develop communications plans/approaches, tools and materials

• Summarize findings in writing and in data visualizations that are clear and relevant

• Contribute to development of reports and other deliverables (e.g., manuals, handbooks, guidelines, strategic/action/implementation plans)

• Contribute to/oversee proposal development

• Travel on occasion to support project work

QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are essential:

• Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant field
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in public sector, consulting or in a role related to the expectations noted above
• Demonstrated knowledge of public sector governance models, guiding tools and approval instruments (e.g., Cabinet Submissions, Treasury Board/Financial Management Board submissions)
• Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis
• Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally
• Strong computer literacy skills, including high proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Considerable experience managing concurrent projects utilizing organizational, planning and project management skills
• Key to working in a consulting practice is being flexible and able to work on a variety of projects and across a variety of disciplines. Candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or an interest in working and learning about other practice areas will do well at DPRA.

In addition, the following qualifications are desirable:
• Business consulting experience
• Experience working with Indigenous populations and/or within Canada’s North

SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT ASSESSMENT

For almost 50 years, DPRA Canada has been providing expert services for all levels of government – Federal, Territorial, Provincial, and Indigenous – as well as private sector proponents. Our team members support the production and review of environmental assessments, and often lead the socio-economic impact assessment (SEIA) of resource development projects in the mining and energy (oil and gas, electricity (nuclear, hydroelectric, wind/solar) sectors.

JOB SUMMARY
As the successful candidate, you will lead and/or contribute to research projects by applying your topical knowledge and qualitative and quantitative research skills. You will work closely with DPRA staff as well as external partners to plan and carry out projects. As a high potential Associate, you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and to grow personally and professionally through mentorship and professional development.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The Associate contributes to the success of the SEIA practice area team through their socio-cultural academic background and research experience. As a key team member, the Associate will:

• Perform quantitative and qualitative research and analysis

• Develop data collection instruments; collect data from surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations and document review; and clean, structure and analyze data

• Summarize findings in writing and in data visualizations that are clear and relevant

• Contribute to development of reports and other deliverables

• Assist with project scheduling and coordination tasks

• Contribute to proposal development

• Travel on occasion to support senior staff in their work alongside clients (when it is safe to do so)

 

QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are essential:

• Master’s Degree or PhD. in social or environmental sciences, environmental planning, or other related discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a professional applied research context, or similar setting, with demonstratable use of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
• Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., community members, program staff, leadership)
• Experience working with proponents, governments/regulators, communities and/or Indigenous organizations/governments
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
• Strong computer literacy skills, including high proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Ability to set priorities, work under pressure, deliver high quality products and meet deadlines
In addition, the following qualifications are desirable:
• Experience engaging with Indigenous stakeholders and familiarity with cultural protocols
• Familiarity with, and experience working on projects in Canada’s North

JOB SUMMARY
DPRA is seeking an Associate for our growing Organizational Effectiveness consulting team. The Organizational Effectiveness team responds to client needs on organizational assessment and transformation, strategic and operational planning, and strategic human resource management initiatives. Specifically, our Organizational Effectiveness consultants work with organizations to maximize the effectiveness and success of their operations and people by developing and implementing well-designed structures, strategies, and programs to drive better results and enhance workplace environments.

 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The Associate contributes to the success of the organizational effectiveness practice area team through their experience in areas such as organizational design and development, human resources management, strategic planning, and management consulting, as well as their research-oriented academic background. As a key team member, the Associate will:

• Perform quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis

• Develop data collection instruments and collect data from surveys, interviews, focus groups, facilitated planning sessions, and in-depth documentation reviews

• Manage and deliver organizational, operational, and strategic consulting engagements with a focus on:

o Organizational effectiveness review

o Organization redesign

o Strategic planning, development and implementation

o Operations and process management effectiveness

o Job analysis and design

o HR strategy development and implementation

• Summarize findings in writing and in data visualizations that are clear and relevant

• Contribute to development of reports, plans, briefing materials, and other deliverables

• Assist with project scheduling and coordination tasks

• Contribute to proposal development

• Travel on occasion to support senior staff in their work alongside clients

 

QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are essential:

• Master’s or PhD in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Industrial and Labour Relations, or related field

• Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience in management consulting, organizational design, organizational development, talent management, government/healthcare/not-for-profit strategy, or related area

• Demonstrated experience in all areas of project delivery including application of appropriate tools and methodologies, analytical skills and report writing

• Experience with facilitation, client communication, and presentations

• Experience with project management

• Effective working skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio, as well as SPSS and online survey platforms

• Ability to support business development initiatives

In addition, the following qualifications are desirable:
• MBA, CPA, or familiarity with public sector financial management
• Skills in financial analysis and projection skills
• Advanced statistics and quantitative data analysis skills
• Minimum of two (2) years business consulting experience
• Public sector experience
• Experience working in a Northern and Indigenous context
